SES.Hospedajes is the Ministerio del Interior (Spain's Ministry of the Interior) platform used to register establishments and report booking and guest data. Those responsible for accommodation covered by Real Decreto 933/2021 (Royal Decree 933/2021) must sign up, collect the required information and send it within the set deadlines.

After many postponements, Royal Decree 933/2021, which sets out new rules for all holiday accommodation in Spain, came into force on 2 December 2024. Until now, guest registers were submitted through police-run guest registration systems (hospederías), but under the new legislation the data will be sent through the SES Hospedajes platform, which reports to the Ministry of the Interior.

This change means the process of registering guests and sending their information to the authorities becomes fully digital. The main aim is to modernise and speed up the paperwork for holiday accommodation, while strengthening security and control by the authorities. All bookings made from 2 December 2024 must comply with these new rules. This guest register is separate from the single register of holiday-let properties, which the Tribunal Supremo (Spain's Supreme Court) struck down in May 2026: SES.HOSPEDAJES is still mandatory.

Why are guest reports (partes de viajeros) sent to the authorities?

The guest register is a public safety measure that allows the authorities to keep efficient, up-to-date track of the people staying in the country. This makes it easier to respond to suspicious situations, strengthens immigration control and helps prevent crime.

The main changes in the rules:

The new rules bring significant changes to how holiday accommodation must handle the registration and sending of guest data. These changes aim not only to modernise the process, but also to ensure greater control and security across Spain. Below we highlight the most relevant points establishments have had to bear in mind since 2 December 2024:

  • Real-time registration: Guest data must be sent within 24 hours of check-in.
  • Fully digital: The process will be 100% digital, using an approved system that allows guests to sign electronically.
  • Stricter security requirements: The rules tighten control of movements within the country and make sure data handling complies with the GDPR (RGPD in Spanish, the General Data Protection Regulation).

What data must be included in SES Hospedajes?

The register must be sent within the first 24 hours after the guest arrives and will include:

  • Booking details: The booking's unique identifier, arrival and departure dates, and the method of payment used.
  • Details of each guest: Full name, identity document, date of birth, home address, contact phone number and the guest's electronic signature.

It is important to stress that every guest must be registered, whatever their age. For under-18s, as well as the usual details, you must provide the information of the relative they are travelling with. For children under 14, there is no need to include their DNI (Spanish national ID card) or signature, but you must record their relationship to the responsible adult.

Meeting these requirements is essential to make sure the accommodation complies with the security and data protection rules imposed by the GDPR, giving guarantees to both the authorities and guests.
